Lockable storage on Gin Gin cattle country
Gin Gin is the service town for grazing and small-crop country either side of the Kolan, with Lake Monduran off to the north-west. Most boxes we take out here land on a long drive beside a set of yards whose machinery shed is already full. The order is practical: feed, fencing, pumps, and a lock on a block nobody is living on through the week.
Gin Gin stock comes up from Bundaberg
There is no staffed container yard in Gin Gin. Units are selected in Bundaberg and trucked north-west. Because the drive is long, getting the grade right before loading matters: a second trip to swap a box is a poor use of the day. Ask and we will email pictures of the Gin Gin-bound box, with the serial readable, before it is loaded.

Fodder, fencing, and blocks empty on weekdays
The ordinary farm load is fodder, fencing gear, poly pipe, pumps and the parts that keep a bore running, plus vet supplies that should not live in an open shed. Feed and anything electrical want a cargo-worthy unit that has been checked dry. Fence posts, steel droppers and wire can live in a cheaper as-is unit if you accept it is not sold watertight.
Plenty of blocks around Gin Gin, Wallaville and the Mount Perry road belong to people who work elsewhere and come out at weekends. An open shed on an empty property is an easy target. A container with a lock box, sited where a neighbour or a passing car can see it, is a harder one. It is also the quickest secure store on a weekender before there is a shed — no slab, and it can move later. Lake Monduran pulls barramundi anglers through this country. A 20ft takes a small tinny on its trailer with the tackle beside it. A 40ft takes a bigger rig. Inland air is kinder to paint than the coast, so a used unit ages slowly here if you vent it and rinse anything that has been in the lake.

Lowmead, further north toward the Bruce, is 4676 and is Gladstone-region country — name it if that is the turn-off, because it is not the same run as a Wallaville grid.
Lake Monduran itself sits in the Monduran locality, 4671. If the drop is on the lake side rather than in town, say which road you leave the highway on.
Grids, gullies and the last kilometre
The drop point is rarely the hard part. The last stretch is. Tell us whether it is bitumen, gravel or a paddock track, the width of the narrowest gate, and what any grid is rated to carry. Old timber grids and culverts over gullies are what stop a truck in this country. Granite and sandy loam drain quickly after rain and can still wash out on a creek crossing. If a crossing is marginal, we would rather unload near the formed road than chance it.
Rural theft is why a lot of these boxes are bought, so the visible spot near the house beats the gully out the back, even if the gully looks tidier. Have bearers ready for the four corners. Will a truck cross a grid on a Wallaville station track?
If the grid is rated for a loaded truck, the track is dry, and the gates are wide enough, usually yes. Send the rating, the narrowest gate and a photo. If the last part is doubtful we will suggest a firm spot closer to the road.
Which grade suits hay and poly, and which suits steel posts?
Hay, feed and electrical gear want cargo-worthy, checked dry. Posts, droppers and wire can go in as-is if a leak will not ruin them. We will not describe an as-is unit as watertight.
Does a container stop theft on a block that is empty all week?
Nothing is theft-proof. A lock box and a shrouded padlock are much harder work than a roller door, especially if the box is visible from the road. Do not leave the keys on the property.
Can a tinny for Lake Monduran go inside?
A small tinny on its trailer fits a 20ft. A larger boat usually needs a 40ft. Measure length, width and height on the trailer, motor included, and compare that with the door opening on the dimensions page.
