Packing-shed storage for Gayndah and the citrus flats
Gayndah sits on the Burnett, west up the highway, in citrus country: mandarins and oranges on the flats, cattle in the hills. Mundubbera, upriver, is the same pattern. The season runs the district — packing sheds, crews, cartons bought ahead. Further out toward Eidsvold, Monto and the Mount Perry road the order changes to fodder, fencing and bore gear. Distance is the first thing to get right, not the last.
Gayndah is a regular run from Bundaberg, not a local yard
We do not keep a staffed depot in Gayndah. Units are picked in Bundaberg and sent up the Burnett Highway often enough that the trip is ordinary, not a special. The dry inland air is kinder to steel than the coast, which is why a used cargo-worthy unit — checked before it leaves the yard — is the value buy for most farm storage here. Pictures of that unit, serial in frame, still go out when you ask, before it travels. Gayndah is far enough that a surprise at the gate is a wasted day.

Cartons ahead of the season, and grazing gear past the flats
Growers store packaging bought in bulk because a rush order costs more than the space, plus irrigation parts, netting, ladders, bags and clippers that must lock while a seasonal crew comes and goes. A 40ft near the packing shed holds a season's cartons, on pallets, dry. Many blocks end up with that 40ft and a 20ft for tools. A lock box keeps the harvest gear when the crew changes.
Spray chemical does not belong in the corner of the machinery shed. A dangerous goods container bundles the spill, vents the vapour and separates the product from everything else an auditor cares about. Bring the register. Out through Monto, Eidsvold and the Mount Perry road the load is fodder, fencing, pumps and vet supplies. Steel posts can be as-is, which is sold as seen and not as watertight. Feed cannot. Heat is the inland complaint: a shut steel box in a Gayndah summer is fierce inside. Vents at both ends help, and so does shade from a shed, provided the branches are not in the truck's way. Gayndah, Ban Ban Springs and Byrnestown are 4625. Mundubbera is 4626. Biggenden, Coalstoun Lakes and Degilbo are 4621. Eidsvold is 4627. Monto and Mungungo are 4630. Mount Perry, on the road back toward Gin Gin, is 4671.
Do not put 4625 on a Monto enquiry. The highway towns are one region and several postcodes, and the turn-off is what the driver follows. Name the property as well as the town.
Orchard rows, grids, and river flats
Inside an orchard the rows are often lower and narrower than they look from a ute, and mainlines and risers run where a truck wants to stand. Is a used container good value in Gayndah's climate?
Usually. Drier inland air lets the steel settle, so a cargo-worthy used unit ages slowly and is the pick for most farm storage. The coast is where we push people toward new paint. This is not the coast.
How do you keep the inside tolerable in a Gayndah summer?
Vents at both ends, shade if the truck can still get in, and nothing heat-sensitive against the roof or walls. A light-coloured roof also helps. The box will still be hot. It will not be an oven with no air path.
Can you set a container down between the citrus rows?
We would rather use the hardstand by the shed. Rows are often too tight, and irrigation lines are easy to damage. Photos let us point at the better pad.
Do you go past Mundubbera to Eidsvold and Monto?
