Childers sits up on the red-soil ridge with the Isis Central Mill just outside town and farms in every direction. Cane is still the backbone. Macadamias, avocados, sweet potatoes, citrus and seasonal small crops have filled in around it. Each crop stores something different, and a container has become ordinary farm kit rather than a novelty.

We do not run a staffed yard on the Bruce Highway at Childers. The unit is chosen and checked in Bundaberg, then trucked up onto the ridge. For a cargo-worthy box that check is a wind-and-water inspection before it leaves; for an as-is box we describe the one on offer, faults included, because that grade is not sold as dry.
Photographs of the actual container, serial visible, are available on request before it travels. On a farm order the more useful pictures are often yours: the headland, the gate and the pad beside the shed. Send those with the enquiry and the truck choice is usually obvious.
What Isis farms keep locked
Macadamia growers want dry, vermin-resistant space for equipment and bagged product between harvests. Avocado and small-crop blocks need bins, crates, irrigation parts and packing supplies. Cane growers park harvester and planter spares out of season. Almost every one of those conversations turns to chemical.
Drums in the corner of the machinery shed are the finding that shows up at audit time. Red soil, headlands and picking crews
Most farm drops here are the easy kind when the ground is dry: room to swing, a spot chosen away from the house, a hardstand beside an existing shed. The catch is wet weather. A headland that carries a ute all year will bog a loaded sidelifter after a decent fall, because the legs put weight through a small footprint. If the block is soft, say so and the delivery waits until it firms, rather than becoming a recovery.
Picking and packing seasons bring large crews, often through labour hire and backpacker accommodation. Ladders, bins and small plant need to be locked when the crew changes. A lock box — a welded shroud over the padlock — stops the easy bolt-cutter theft. Put the container where it can be seen from the house or the packing shed.
